YOLO #1

You only live once!!

So, I’m defs not going to be documenting the YOLO Project everyyyy day, but I’ll be updating about it every once in awhile.  Keep your eyeballs peeled for fresh reports, yo!

Today’s YOLO: Use a tilt-shift lens.

Allegra and I decided to bust out the Edge 80 lens that Lensbaby offered her a few weeks ago.  It was a lot of fun and a big challenge for both of us!

Here are a few of the results!

The YOLO Project.

Upon examining my life as of late, I decided it was extremely boring. Allegra agreed.  We decided it was time for a change and that change came in the form of a ridiculous acronym.

The YOLO (You Only Live Once) Project:  Try one new thing every day, all summer, no exceptions.

Go somewhere you’ve never been.

Eat something you’ve never eaten.

Do something you’ve never done.

ETC.

The point is: mix it up, try new things, complete your bucket list, find new passions, create new stories.

It would be lovely to have some fellow adventurers.  Any takers?

Just thought I’d share a few of my favorite memes, etc. of ye ol’ Rail-Splitter.

Looper.

I’m pretty stoked on this.  Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis.  BOMBDOTCOM.

I think this pretty much sums up the plot:

The Mummy Returns…Again & Again & Again &

It’s all too appropriate that I post this on Easter…. ….

So yeah.  Universal Studios is planning a reboot of a reboot of the reboot of The Mummy.  Why?  I have no idea.  Let’s just hope Brendan Fraser has nothing to do with.

It’s being penned by Jon Spaihts, the original screenwriter behind the Ridley Scott Prometheus before being taken over for rewrites by LOST‘s Damon Lindelof.

Is this a good idea?  I mean, we already have 12+ movies based on the original.  Do we need another?

I’m not watching this unless George Clooney, Jesse Eisenberg, or Zooey Deschanel is the mummy.

The Downfall of Imagination in Hollywood: An Apocalypse of the Mind.

Oh, America.  Don’t you wish you could sometimes just hop in Doc Brown‘s DeLorean and go back to when the silver screen was saturated with magical creativity?  If I’m going to spend 10.5 BILLION dollars going to a movie in theaters nowadays, it’s gotta be good.  But it’s so hard to tell what’s going to be decent anymore.  Thank gawd for Rotten Tomatoes for some guiding light, but even the tomato smashers don’t always get it right.

Maybe we’re just spoiled?  Maybe we should just expect all movies to be awful and then occasionally be semi-pleasantly surprised?  That’s the mentality I’ve tried to have as of late – kind of bleak, but what can you do when the imagination of Hollywood’s gone to shit Bleepsville.

This is a graphic I TOTALLY stole from Short of the Week.  It’s kind of depressing, but totally true.
